Guanidinium thiocyanate or guanidinium isothiocyanate is a chemical compound used as a general protein denaturant, being a chaotropic agent, although it is most commonly used as a nucleic acid protector in the extraction of DNA and RNA from cells. GITC may also be recognized as guanidine thiocyanate. Forms a colorless, clear solution when dissolved 35% in water or forms a colorless, clear precipitate (carbonate) when dissolved 20% in acetone. Rose Scientific is a source of a growing list of difficult to find or manufacture specialty chemicals. Rose produces in its own laboratory, uses sister companies, or sources from other manufacturers with whom it has long experience. Rose welcomes inquiries about the availability of much larger quantities or chemicals that are not yet part of its regular catalog. Prices are in US dollars.
